Adding reverse camera to 124 Spider Abarths (U.K.)

I don’t know why Fiat chose not to include the reverse camera in 124 Spider Abarths sold in the U.K., but since the Infotainment System is designed to accommodate the camera, it is only a matter of adding the wiring and the camera itself (a 1 to 2 hour job), should you wish to have the popular option that Fiat fortunately included for most of the 124 Spiders sold in the rest of the world (I’m sure the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s requirement for including the cameras in all 2019+ automobiles was a major factor).

Stuart has started a blog promoting his reverse camera retrofit kit, along with instructions, which is at, and asked that I share this with my readers.

  1. I have recently bought and fitted Stuart kit. Excellent quality and fantastic, very detailed instructions with photographs where appropriate. Will take a couple of hours to fit) if you route the wires properly.
He is also now marketing a wide angle camera to mimic the Lusso one.
Excellent quality at a very low price indeed

  2. Greetings from the Netherlands (a.k.a. Holland, Europe).

I wondered if this camera will work properly after applying the tweaks found in the ‘common tweaks that work’-section (or vice versa!).

Since the camera seems to be mostly a hardware add-on, I figure it should work fine. Though better safe than sorry…

My car is a 2017 Lusso, EU spec.

Further: does anyone know the differences between the $144 (£90) camera 124SDR_REVCAM_04 and the $104 (£65) model (_01). Is it only the wide-angle lens?
